June 9, 2021

PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department has announced a plan to sell six tracts of land across the eastern part of the state as part of an evaluation effort of Game Production Areas.

Staff discussed the plan at the June GFP commission meeting, revealing specific properties and the basis on the decision.

The initial properties identified for disposal include 40 acres of the West Lake Poinsett Game Production Area four miles southeast of Lake Norden in Hamlin County, 60 acres of the South Buffalo Lake East Game Production Area 7.5 miles east of Eden in Marshall County, and nine acres of the Mondry Portion of the Pickerel Lake Game Production Area six miles east of Grenville in Day County.

Funds from the sale of lands will be directed to acquiring other property more suited to GF&P needs and the needs of their constituents.
