GBB: Benike double-double sends Castlewood over DeSmet

DESMET, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — A double-double by Alayna Benike sent Castlewood over DeSmet 54-47 in high school girls basketball Monday night.

The New Country KS93 and Taco John’s Athlete of the Week nominee tallied 22 points on five of 11 shooting from the field, three of nine from the charity stripe, grabbed 16 boards and stole the ball four times. Mackenzie Everson added 11 points and Maddie Horn contributed nine.

Kennadi Buchholz would lead all scorers with 26 points and grabbed 11 boards. Emma Albrecht would contribute 13.

DeSmet falls 7-8 and travels to Flandreau on February 9th. Number two Castlewood improves to 13-0 and travels to Florence/Henry on February 9th.
