Gas prices receding after late summer spike

WATERTOWN, S.D.–Gasoline prices in South Dakota have receded after a late summer spike.

AAA reports the statewide average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.68. That’s down six cents a gallon from a week ago, and 17-cents a gallon cheaper than a month ago.

Nationally, the current average is $3.70 a gallon, which is down 11 cents from one week ago.

Topping the price chart is California, at $5.80 a gallon. On the low end are Mississippi and Georgia at $3.14 a gallon.
