WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Watertown City Council holds their second and final meeting of the month tonight.

They’ll vote on whether to increase the cost of residential garbage collection in town. Right now, the Solid Waste Collection fee is $11.50 a month. A resolution to be voted on tonight would raise that by a dollar month to $12.50.

If adopted, the increase would result in the collection of an additional $120,000 a year in revenue for the city.

Also tonight, the council will hear a quarterly presentation from Watertown Development Company Executive Director Mark Vaux.

The council will vote on hiring 292 Design Group of Minneapolis as the architect for a new ice arena. City documents say the ice arena will be 102,000 square feet in size, with a seating capacity of 1,200-plus on the main rink and 300 for the secondary rink.

And they’ll vote on whether to sign a one-year contract with Grant County and the city of Milbank for non-emergency Police-Fire-Medical dispatching for Grant County and the city of Milbank. The cost of providing those services would be $24,000.
