PIERRE, S.D.–A strong law enforcement turnout is expected in Pierre this morning for the funeral of Lee Weber.
The chief deputy of the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office drowned in the Missouri River this month when he was attempting to rescue his eight year-old son who’d fallen from a boat.
It took search crews nearly a week to find Weber’s body.
Weber was a longtime South Dakota National Guard member too, having served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
His funeral is at 10;00 A.M. at Steamboat Park in Pierre.
Weber is survived by his wife and six children.
Weber was 37 years old.
