Fritz hired as Watertown’s first ever public information officer

WATERTOWN, S.D.— The city of Watertown has hired its first-ever public information officer.
Kelli Fritz will begin work on Friday, March 1st. She has ten years of experience in development, communications, and marketing, and most recently held the position of Marketing and Development Specialist at The Village of Harmony Hill.
“There are a lot of positive developments happening in the Watertown community. I am eager to keep our citizens informed,” said Fritz. “Our elected officials and staff are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Watertown, and I’m thrilled to be joining the team.”
Fritz’s responsibilities include increasing transparency in city operations by communicating through social media, local media outlets, and the city’s website and publications.
City Manager Amanda Mack says, “I am excited to have Kelli joining our team as the first Public Information Officer. Her experience and enthusiasm will be an asset to our team and to the community. This position, authorized by the Council in 2023, will continue to build upon the success of Watertown, and strengthens the Council’s vision and mission through increased communication and transparency.”
The first few months of Fritz’s employment will be focused on establishing relationships and acclimating to her role in the organization and community. Her office will be located at City Hall.
