WATERTOWN, S.D.—There won’t be any Fourth of July event at the Redlin Art Center this summer.

The city of Watertown issued a news release Friday saying it’s been cancelled due to COVID-19.

Mayor Sarah Caron says they make the announcement, “with great sadness,” but their priority “continues to be health and safety of the general public, entertainers, vendors and first responders who make the event possible each year.”

She went on to say now is not the right time to ask businesses for money to cover the cost of holding the event.

It’s scheduled to return in 2021.
