WATERTOWN, S.D.–For the first time this winter, Watertown’s snow removal crews were out plowing roads and highways following a four inch snowfall overnight.
Street Department Superintendent Rob Beynon says they were ready..
Again this winter, the city will alternate plowing streets and avenues on different days, but that could change in future years.
Beynon says they’re looking at ways to do snow removal more efficiently. One possibility is to do it in a “zone method,” where all streets and avenues in a particular part of town would be plowed before moving onto a different area…
Last winter, Beynon says there were a total of 21 weather events that required sanding, plowing, or both in Watertown, at a total cost of just under $292,000.
