Former Pierre mayor passes away at the age of 85

PIERRE, S.D.–A former mayor of Pierre passed away over the weekend.

85-year-old Dennis Eisnach died peacefully at home Saturday surrounded by his family.

Current Pierre mayor Steve Harding says Eisnach was a true public servant who helped modernize the city’s government.

Eisnach was mayor from 2002-2008.

A private family service will be held due to COVID-19. A public service and celebration of life will be held this summer or early fall.
