Former Minnesota Speaker of the House announces resignation from Legislature

ST. PAUL, Minn.–Former speaker Kurt Daudt says he is resigning from the Minnesota house.

The Republican says it will be effective Feb. 11. He represents a district which includes Saint Francis, Princeton, Zimmerman and other parts of Sherburne, Isanti, Mille Lacs, and Anoka Counties.

He was first elected to the house in 2010. Daudt hasn’t said what his plans are.

Gov. Tim Walz will call for a special election to fill the position.
