WATERTOWN, S.D.–Within the next month, the National Weather Service will begin issuing its flood prediction forecasts for the upcoming spring.

South Dakota’s State Climatologist, Laura Edwards (pictured), tells KWAT News parts of the state have a pretty deep snow pack that’s holding a lot of moisture…

Edwards says a slow melt is ideal, and it looks like that’ll happen this weekend….

Edwards says Watertown saw just 3.6 inches of snow in January, while Sioux Falls had around 20 inches.
