Five businesses in Watertown, Codington County fail tobacco compliance checks

WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Watertown Police Department and Codington County Sheriff’s Office conducted tobacco compliance checks at a number of businesses Tuesday.
Three businesses passed the compliance checks, but five others failed.
Businesses that passed were Dakota Tobacco and the Vape Depot, both of Watertown, and 212 One Stop in Henry.
The five that failed by selling tobacco to someone under the age of 21 were Midtown Smoke Shop, Smoke Solutions, KDS Vapors and 212 Casino, all of Watertown, and the Tip Top in Kranzburg.
A citation was issued to employees from the businesses that failed the compliance checks by selling tobacco to a person under 21.
