Fire damages Beef Complex building on South Dakota State Fairgounds

HURON, S.D.—The Beef Complex building at the South Dakota State Fairgrounds in Huron has sustained substantial damage in a weekend fire.

The fire was reported early Saturday morning.

State Fair officials in a social media posting said no people or animals were injured in the fire, and the buildings in close proximity were evacuated.

The Huron, Cavour, and Wolsey Fire Departments responded to the fire. The State Fire Marshal, the Huron Fire Department, and the Department of Criminal Investigation will be conducting a joint investigation into the cause of the fire.

The South Dakota Barrel Racing Association Final, which was scheduled to happen on the fairgrounds Saturday, was cancelled.
