GRAND FORKS, N.D.–Six candidates have accepted invitations to visit the University of North Dakota campus to interview for the position of President.

The visits will take place in mid-November, and the State Board of Higher Education will name UND’s next president at its Dec. 3 meeting.

A total of 61 applications were received for the position. The UND Presidential Search Committee interviewed 11 candidates last week, and narrowed the field to six.

The finalists include: Dr. Laurie Nichols, Interim President at Black Hills State University. Nichols is a former President of the University of Wyoming in Laramie, and a former provost and vice president for academic affairs at South Dakota State University.

Other finalists for the presidency at UND are: 

Dr. David V. Rosowsky, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Former Provost and Senior Vice President, University of Vermont

Dr. Chuck Staben, Professor of Biology, Former President University of Idaho

Dr. Paul J. Tikalskyn, Dean, College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology, Oklahoma State University

Dr. Andrew P. Armacost, Dean of the Faculty / Chief Academic Officer, United States Air Force Academy

Dr. Robert J. Marley, Professor of Engineering Management; Former Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Missouri University of Science and Technology
