WATERTOWN, S.D.–Today marks the final week of this year’s South Dakota legislative session, and it shapes up to be an interesting one.

Legislators are still trying to determine which kind of tax cut, if any at all, will be sent to Governor Noem as part of the state budget she’ll consider signing.

House Speaker Hugh Bartels of Watertown, who spoke with KWAT News at a legislative cracker barrel Saturday, says the House has sent a couple of options to the Senate…

Bartels is leaning toward not supporting any tax cut at all….

Representative Byron Callies of Watertown is in the same boat…he’s not sure he’ll support any tax cut…

District 4 Representative Stephanie Sauder of Bryant supports the reduction of the state sales and use tax from 4.5 percent to 4.2 percent…

The session ends Thursday. Lawmakers can come back to Pierre for one day…March 27th…to consider overriding any vetoes issued by Governor Noem.
