Federal investigators now probing Fargo area church fire

HARWOOD, N.D. (KFGO) – Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner says the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has taken over the investigation into a suspicious church fire.
The blaze was at Maple Sheyenne Lutheran church last Friday morning. There were indications that someone placed a propane tank outside the church and ignited the gas. There was also charring on the exterior of another part of the building along Cass County Road 20 northwest of Fargo. An ATF agent was on the scene shortly after the fire was reported. A deputy state fire marshal was also there.
Most of the damage was from smoke in the fellowship hall. Fire doors kept the smoke out of the main sanctuary.
