Falvey: Donaldson trade creates flexibly for infield

MINNEAPOLIS, M.N. (GoWatertown.net) — The Minnesota Twins made some more preseason moves earlier this week.
Minnesota unloaded former AL MVP Josh Donaldson and shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa and backup catcher Ben Rortvedt to the New York Yankees for catcher Gary Sánchez and third baseman Gio Urshela.
Kiner-Falefa had just arrived to Minnesota in a trade with the Texas Rangers. President of Baseball Operations for the Minnesota Twins Derek Falvey says the deal came together quickly:
Twins freed up $50 million guaranteed to Donaldson over the remaining two years of the four-year, $92 million contract he signed before the 2020 season. Derek Falvey says it gives the Twins a chance to repurpose some of that money:
