Ernie Els commits to playing at Sanford International

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –Four-time major winner Ernie Els has officially committed to playing in the Sanford International presented by Cambria September 7-13 at Minnehaha Country Club in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Els has 71 career victories including the 1994 and 1997 U.S. Open and the 2002 and 2012 Open Championship. The Johannesburg, South Africa, native has been a member of eight President’s Cup teams. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2011 and was named the 2015 Payne Stewart Award recipient.
“We already had the best field in the history of the Sanford International, and today it got even better,” said Josh Brewster, tournament director. “With Ernie’s commitment, we now have the top five players on the Charles Schwab Cup money list competing in this year’s tournament – it’s going to be an unbelievable week of golf.”
Els is currently in third place on the Charles Schwab Cup money list. He has played in seven events this season on the PGA TOUR Champions, finishing in the top-10 five times. In just his third start on the PGA TOUR Champions, he won the Hoag Classic with a three-round score of -16.
The Sanford International Presented by Cambria, a PGA TOUR Champions event contested in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, will be played at Minnehaha Country Club the week of September 7-13.
