WATERTOWN, S.D.–With one week to go until Election Day, there’s been plenty of interest in early voting in South Dakota.

In Codington County, Auditor Cindy Brugman says as of 5 p.m. Monday, 3,121 ballots had been cast. That compares to 2,445 at this time during the midterm elections in 2018.

Of the ballots submitted early this year, 1,797 have been cast by registered Republicans, 827 by Democrats, and 390 by Independents.

In 2018, a total of 4,609 abstentee ballots were cast, with a total voter turnout of 10,763 in Codington County.
