Downtown Watertown business owner receives building permit for exterior renovations (Audio)

WATERTOWN, S.D.–A business owner in downtown Watertown has received a building permit to reconstruct the exterior of her business and two adjacent buildings.

The applicant for the permit is Mindy Wirkus of Ledger’s, at 9 South Broadway.

She’s purchased two buildings next door, at 11 and 13 South Broadway. They’re located in what’s considered a historical district and there was much discussion about adhering to historical values in any redesign that takes place.

Wirkus spoke to the council, saying she had options on where to locate her expanding business, but her preference is to stay downtown…

The building permit was approved unanimously.
