WATERTOWN, S.D.–There could be some movement next month on the city of Watertown making steps toward selling the Wells Fargo Bank building downtown.
The city bought the building two years ago with the intention of renovating it into a new City Hall.
Those plans were scrapped when the only renovation bid they received came in millions of dollars over budget.
The city has since declared the building surplus property, and is soliciting sealed bids from developers interested in buying the property.
City Manager Amanda Mack says bids are due September 6th…
Mack says the city doesn’t enter the bid opening with any expectation of what kind of offer they’ll need to sell…
The purchase price was $1.3 million.
