Deubrook girls basketball to take part in Samaritan’s Feet Barefoot Classic

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Deubrook girls basketball team will participate in the fifth annual Samaritan’s Feet Barefoot Classic presented by Sanford Health at the Sanford Pentagon Dec. 14, 2019.
The Dolphins will kick off the event vs Viborg-Hurley at 10:30 a.m.
The event allows coaches the option to go barefoot during the games to help raise awareness of Samaritan’s Feet, a 501(c)(3) humanitarian aid organization that shares a message of hope with children in need in the United States and around the world by washing their feet and giving them a new pair of shoes. With the World Health Organization reporting that more than 1.5 billion people are infected with diseases that are transmitted through contaminated soil, the mission of Samaritan’s Feet is to provide education and economic opportunities through this gift and act of service.
Sanford Health has partnered with Samaritan’s Feet since 2015 donating over $1 million to help support shoe distribution events across the Midwest and around the world. The organization’s founder, Manny Ohonme, is a member of the Sanford International Board.
Since its founding in 2003, Samaritan’s Feet and its partners have distributed more than 7 million pairs of shoes in 108 countries and 395 U.S. cities.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and students K-12. Children four and under are free.
The field features eight girls teams and eight boys teams with schools from South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa. Games start at 10:30 a.m. and tip every 90 minutes.
