WATERTOWN, S.D.—After numerous meetings at City Hall and with neighborhood residents, the Watertown City Council has settled on a design plan for a reconstructed nine-block stretch of 10th Avenue North between Highway 81 and Prairie Lakes Hospital.

The street will be 38 feet wide with no on-street parking. There will be three 11 foot driving lanes, one in each direction, and a continuous center turn lane.

Watertown Public Works Director Heath VonEye spoke at Monday’s meeting about what’s there now, and the new look once construction is complete…

He says this project is being done with long-term safety and economics in mind…

The council voted to hold a public information meeting to update neighborhood residents on the design that’s now been approved. A date for that meeting was not announced.

VonEye says they hope to bid the project by Febuary, and will solicit bids for both an asphalt and concrete road.
