Deadly western Minnesota tornado rated an EF-4

The National Weather Service says that deadly tornado that dropped down in western Minnesota last week was an EF-4 twister, with winds estimated at 170 miles per hour.

The tornado formed in Grant and Otter Tail counties southeast of Dalton, Minnesota from a rapidly developing supercell thunderstorm.

The tornado was on the ground for nine miles, and a total of 31 minutes.

A machine shop and one farmhouse were destroyed by the tornado. One man was killed and three others were injured.
