June 2, 2021
Mike Tanner
WATERTOWN, S.D.–Mike Danforth spent eight years as a member of the Watertown City Council, and he hopes voters will return him there on June 15th.
Danforth is running for the only council seat in Ward A, which is in northeast Watertown.
Ward A residents are currently represented by Councilman Don Roby, who is not running for re-election, and Ried Holien, who’s running for mayor.
KWAT News asked Danforth about the council’s recent decision to buy the Wells Fargo Bank building downtown, and renovate it into a new City Hall…
Another opportunity that’s come is the development of a new downtown park called Foundation Plaza, which has received council approval. The cost of that project is estimated at three-million dollars.
Danforth says he’s not anti-park, but he wonders if that money could be better spent in other areas…
Danforth’s opponent in the Ward A race is Kay Solberg, who’ll join us Friday morning at 9 o’clock.
