Dakota State (S.D.) releases 2020 volleyball schedule

MADISON, S.D. (DSUAthletics.com) – The Dakota State University Trojan volleyball head coach Amy Veenhof, who is entering her twelfth season at helm, is excited to announce their 2020 schedule. A total of 26 matches are listed on the 2020 Trojan volleyball schedule.
DSU, who finished their 2019 season with an overall record of 19-13 and their first-ever appearance in the NAIA Volleyball National Tournament Opening Round, opens their season with four matches in the Kansas Wesleyan Tournament on Sept. 5-6 in Salina, Kan. The Trojans face three teams from the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) versus Sterling (Kan.), Bethel (Kan.), and Kansas Wesleyan. DSU also faces Montana Western in the tournament.
Dakota State continues their action with another preseason tournament in Peru, Neb. on Sept. 11-12. The Trojans are scheduled to play the host-team Peru State (Neb.), Bethel, Mount Marty (S.D.) and York (Neb.).
The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) conference season opener is set for Sept. 16. DSU plays its home opener versus Bellevue (Neb.). The Trojans stay home for a non-conference contest versus Morningside (Iowa) on Sept. 18, followed by another non-conference match at College of Saint Mary (Neb.) on Sept. 19.
Dakota State returns to NSAA conference action at home versus Valley City State (N.D.) on Sept. 25 and Dickinson State (N.D.) on Sept. 26. The Trojans travels to Presentation (S.D.) on Oct. 1 and Mayville State (N.D.) on Oct. 3.
DSU returns home for a non-conference match against long-time rival Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) on Oct. 7. Both teams will meet for the second meeting on Oct. 28 in Mitchell.
The Trojans wrap up their first half of the NSAA conference schedule on the road, visiting Waldorf (Iowa) on Oct. 9 and Viterbo (Wis.) on Oct. 10.
Dakota State kicks off the second-half portion of the North Star conference schedule at Bellevue (Neb.) on Oct. 13. DSU takes a week before returning to action at home on Oct. 23 versus Presentation and Oct. 24 versus Mayville State.
DSU wraps up their road schedule at Valley City State on Oct. 30 and at Dickinson State on Oct. 31. The Trojans conclude their regular-season schedule at home versus Waldorf on Nov. 6, followed by Viterbo on Nov. 7.
The top six teams in the North Star volleyball conference standings will advance for the postseason tournament, to be held at Watertown Civic Arena in Watertown, S.D. on Nov. 13-14. The winner of the conference postseason tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NAIA Volleyball National Tournament, with the opening round at campus sites on Nov. 21.
The NAIA Volleyball National Tournament’s final site is scheduled to take place at Tyson Center in Sioux City, Iowa from Dec. 1 through Dec. 5.
The Trojan junior varsity volleyball schedule includes 11 total matches, opening at home on Sept. 18 versus Morningside followed by a road contest at College of Saint Mary on Sept. 19. DSU plays in Morningside triangular on Sept. 24 and will play a total of seven matches in the month of October. Dakota State’s junior varsity also play at Minnesota West Community College on Oct. 26 before wrapping up their schedule at Dakota Wesleyan on Oct. 28.
