Crow Creek Tribe bans Governor Noem

FORT THOMPSON, S.D.–Another tribe voted this week to ban Gov. Kristi Noem from their reservation.

The Crow Creek Sioux Tribe barred the governor on Tuesday.

This marks the sixth tribe in South Dakota to ban Gov. Noem from entering their land.

Peter Lengkeek, president of the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe, described frustration over Gov. Noem’s recent public offer of training and collaboration with tribal law enforcement. Although the tribe has an arrangement with the SD Highway Patrol to assist during the annual pow-wow,

Lengkeek requested that Gov. Noem extend the agreement to work with the Highway Patrol on an as-needed basis. Lengkeek said their tribe has yet to receive a response.

“No, there is no cartel on our reservation,” said Lengkeek.
