WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown City Councilman Mike Danforth lives in the northeast part of the city, and on the council, he represents the residents who live there.
During the “old business” portion of Monday night’s city council meeting, Danforth raised the question of street conditions in that part of Watertown that are failing prematurely.
He pointed to the total reconstruction of a stretch of 12th Avenue Northeast that’s occurring now…
Public Works Director Heath VonEye admitted some shortcuts have been taken on street construction in that part of town…
VonEye says the key to good pavement conditions over a long period of time is ample drainage, and with a high water table in northeast Watertown, that’s been a challenge.
