SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—The COVID-19 pandemic has had a big impact on people who are in the business of collecting blood donations.

Ken Versteeg is the executive director at the Sioux Falls-based Community Blood Bank.

He says as COVID-19 began to take hold in the U.S., blood drives that were on the calendar were being cancelled…

Versteeg says there’s no evidence to suggest that a person can contract the coronavirus through a blood transfusion….

Donors will be asked a few more questions before they give blood….

Versteeg says the medical staff working blood drives is also taking extra precautions…
