WATERTOWN, S.D.–Two teenage girls from Watertown avoided serious injuries Monday in a crash that vaulted both vehicles into the front yard of a private residence.
It happened over the noon hour on Highway 81 and Fifth Avenue Southeast.
That’s where a pickup driven by a 16 year-old collided with a Chevy Equinox driven by a 15 year-old.
The collision occurred in the intersection, and caused both vehicles to swerve off the west side of Highway 81.
The pickup crashed into an enclosed porch of a home, while the Equinox went up and over a landscaping retaining wall and into the front yard of the home.
The driver of the Equinox was cited for a stop sign violation.
The driver of the pickup was cited for driving without a valid license.
