PIERRE, S.D.–Codington County has recorded its first COVID-19-related death since the pandemic began.

The man who died was over the age of 80. The Health Department does not release specific information on COVID-19 victims.

It brings the statewide death toll to 136.

South Dakota reported 59 new cases of the virus on Tuesday.

Most of the new cases were in Minnehaha County, but an outbreak at a Christian summer camp for kids in the Black Hills infected nearly one-third of the more than 300 people at Camp Judson near Keystone. Many of those people have since recovered.
