Codington County now reporting eight active cases of COVID-19

PIERRE, S.D.—South Dakota will enter the Memorial Day weekend with a COVID-19 death toll at an even fifty.

Two more deaths were reported today by the State Health Department. Eighty-six percent of the deaths have been in Minnehaha County.

The number of active cases is at 1,039, hospitalizations are at 83, and total recoveries are at more than 3,200.

Codington County cases jumped to 25, with eight of those cases being active.

A rise in numbers was expected as mass testing of employees and residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities began this week.
