Codington County now classified as “community spread” of COVID-19 virus  (Audio)

WATERTOWN, S.D.—Codington County has now reported eleven cases of the COVID-19 virus.

Seven cases are active. Four people have recovered.

Watertown Mayor Sarah Caron says Codington County now falls under the classification of “community spread,” of COVID-19, and she explained what that means….

Prairie Lakes CEO K. C DeBoer says “community spread” in Codington County was not unexpected….

DeBoer says with an anticipated peak of cases in South Dakota in mid-June, the climb toward that peak will begin soon….

Watertown Police Captain Kirk Ellis announced at today’s briefing that Watertown area hospitals and clinics are looking for homemade face masks that can be worn for protection from the virus.

They can be made from any cotton or cotton blend material such as t-shirts or bed sheets. 

Masks can be dropped off at the Salvation Army between the hours of 9 and 5 Monday thru Friday.
