Codington County ends ban on open burning

WATERTOWN, S.D.–It was in place for for just three days.
The ban on all open burning in Codington County, which was implemented Tuesday, was lifted today thanks to this week’s rain.
City officials have determined it is safe to remove the ban on recreational fires within city limits.
Watertown has received more than two inches of rain since Tuesday, stamping out the fire danger, at least for the time being.
County commissioners can reinstitute the ban at a later date if needed.
