WATERTOWN, S.D.—A long-awaited fix to a drainage problem in a northeast Watertown neighborhood is on target to get done yet this year.

City Engineer Heath VonEye gave an update at Monday night’s city council meeting on plans to both relocate and re-grade a drainage channel on the north side of Cherry Drive…

The private development to the north VonEye spoke of is a 10 lot development where twin homes will be built.

VonEye says it was hoped the developers of that project would partner with the city to relocate and re-dredge the drainage channel while working on their own project.

But now it appears the city will forge ahead on its own…

VonEye says the city will procure bids for the project soon….

The Army Corps of Engineers signed off on the re-dredging plans last winter.
