WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Watertown City Council had three rezoning questions on their agenda at Monday night’s meeting. Just one of them was approved, and it did so unanimously.

Undeveloped property in the Eastwoods neighborhood of northeast Watertown will now become a residential Planned Unit Development–or PUD. City-owned land will make up about 40 percent of the PUD site.

Six buildings will be constructed, which include a total of 48 living units and no more than 80 bedrooms spread among six buildings. Councilman Mike Danforth wanted assurances that the three four-plexes being built will be single-story structures, because that’s what neighbors prefer……

Councilman Bruce Buhler…

Archer Land Development LLC will develop the property. They’re not from Watertown, but Mayor Ried Holien says that shouldn’t matter….

Two other rezoning requests at Lake Kampeska were both defeated.
