Christmas tree collections in Watertown begin Friday

WATERTOWN, S.D.–Now that Christmas is behind us, people will start taking down the Christmas tree and all the decorations on it.
If you’ve got a real tree, the Watertown Solid Waste Department is reminding you that they will begin collecting Christmas trees this Friday (December 29th).
Trees must be real, be free of all tinsel, lights, bases and decorations.
Plastic bags should be used to contain pine needles, with the tree placed on the boulevard.
Only bare trees will be picked up, and that’ll happen on your regular garbage collection day.
After January 11th, trees will have to be brought to the landfill for disposal.
