Chicago man sentenced in South Dakota for passing counterfeit money

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.–A Chicago man convicted of counterfeit money in South Dakota has been sentenced.

Twenty eight year-old Shavez Moody will spend 15 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised released.

He was also ordered to pay more than $800 in restitution to retail stores where he passed the fake money.

Moody passed and attempted to pass counterfeit $100 bills at retail stores in Sioux Falls and Aberdeen, knowing the bills were counterfeit.
