BROOKINGS, S.D. ( – The college football landscape continues to change with conference realignment and teams moving from FCS to FBS like Sam Houston and James Madison.

South Dakota State Coach John Stiegelmeier gives his thoughts on the college football landscape:

Since moving to division one, South Dakota State has reached the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs in 10 consecutive seasons. Last season the Jacks reached the FCS semifinals for the fourth time in five years. All that success has led to some issues in scheduling power five games:

South Dakota State will open the year on September 3rd at Iowa and face Oklahoma State in 2024, Northwestern in 2026, and head to Nebraska in 2028 and 2030. Jackrabbit football can be heard this year on Watertown Radio’s sister station 910AM The Ranch.
