CFB: Luepke named Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS – North Dakota State fullback Hunter Luepke was named Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Player of the Week by the league office.  Luepke was also named Stats Perform FCS National Offensive Player of the Week

In his first game of the spring back from injury, Luepke accounted for 195 yards and three touchdowns in North Dakota State’s 34-13 win over North Dakota. The sophomore from Spencer, Wis., had a 55-yard rushing TD on his first touch of the game and carried 28 times for 190 yards as the Bison played without running back Jalen Bussey and lost running back Kobe Johnson midway through the game.

Prior to Saturday, Luepke had seven carries for 70 yards in 15 career games. NDSU rushed for 316 yards and averaged 5.9 yards per carry against a UND defense allowing just 85.3 yards per game in four previous contests.

North Dakota State (5-1, 4-1 MVFC) is scheduled to play South Dakota (1-3, 1-3 MVFC) on Saturday, March 27. Game time is 1 p.m. at the DakotaDome in Vermillion, S.D.
