BROOKINGS, S.D. (Brookings Radio) — The 1-and-1 South Dakota State football team hosts Western Illinois Saturday in the Jacks home opener.

Head coach John Stiegelmeier says he’s thankful for the weather forecast – highs in the 50’s with no precipitation.

He says each game is playoff-important in the COVID-shortened season:

Fans may point to losses by SDSU and North Dakota State, and USD’s win, as upsets. Stiegelmeier says the unpredictability is how predictable the league can be.

Stiegelmeier says the Jacks have to eliminate offensive mistakes, and find ways to play better in the third quarter.
