WATERTOWN, S.D.–A Celebration of Life service will be held this week for the Day County woman who was the subject of an extensive air and ground search this winter.

Forty six year-old Amy Dougherty of Andover, formerly of Watertown, disappeared December 23rd while driving to work in Bristol in blizzard conditions.

Investigators had been working under the assumption she couldn’t see, and drove her black Chevy Trailblazer off the road and into a frozen body of water.

Her body was recovered in a slough just west of Bristol on Friday.

A Celebration of Life for Amy will be held Thursday from 3-7 p.m. at the Wight and Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.

Day County Sheriff Ryan Rucktaeschel said a news release with more details on the search and recovery of Amy’s body would likely be released Tuesday.
