CASTLEWOOD, S.D.–Castlewood School District residents go to the polls tomorrow (Tuesday) to decide a $6 million bond issue.
Castlewood was rocked by a tornado in May of last year that tore school facilities apart…..
Superintendent Peter Books tells KWAT News that through a $5.6 million insurance settlement, they’ve made repairs to what could be fixed, but the insurance money didn’t cover everything the school district wanted to do in terms of improvements….
Tuesday’s $6 million bond referendum needs 60-percent voter approval in order to pass.
Books says if that happens, a portion of the money will be used to construct an auxiliary gymnasium, and newer and bigger classrooms….
Voting is Tuesday from 7 am to 7 pm at the Castlewood Community Center.
