Caron: Watertown’s growth in sales tax revenue strongest in a decade

WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown saw record sales tax revenue in March 2021.

A press release from Mayor Sarah Caron indicates sales tax revenue in March was up 20.2 percent over March 2020. She says tax revenue in the first quarter of 2021 was the strongest its been in the last decade.

The second penny sales tax has generated almost two million dollars so far this year–an increase of $246,000 over last year.

Caron says, “when we shop local, we are investing in our people and the community. People are coming to Watertown to spend their money, and we appreciate them.”
