WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown’s bars and restaurants were allowed to re-open this week when an emergency ordinance designed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 was allowed to expire.

But it’s not entirely business as usual…at least not yet.

Mayor Sarah Caron says City Hall has been fielding a lot of questions from business owners wondering how many people they can have in their establishment at one time….

Caron says if business owners get lax in these new guidelines, there could be a backslide in the fight against COVID-19.

The City Council will be monitoring virus numbers in Codington County, and will react accordingly if those numbers start to climb.

Right now, there’s just one active case in the county.
