Cardiac kids come back for two walk offs at Renner Tournament

RENNER, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — Watertown Post 17 would walk off twice this weekend to go 2-1 at the Renner Tournament.
The purple and gold would fall to the host and defending South Dakota Legion Champion Renner Post 307 on Friday 10-0. Evan Falconer would put down two hits in the game. Mason Morris took the loss on the mound as he would last four and two-thirds innings, allowing nine hits and eight runs while striking out four.
The purple and gold would bounce back on Saturday in a big way. Down 10-6 to the Sioux Falls Cyclones going into the seventh inning, Post 17 would put five across the plate including a Zach Hirsch walk-off double to end the game 11-10. Watertown would collect 18 hits on the day. Mason Morris (4), Kade Russell (3) and Jerod Cyrus (3) would each have a multiple hit game.
Watertown would not be done yet as Braxton Lacher would walk-off Sioux Falls West, scoring one to take the victory 5-4 in game two on Saturday. Peyton Johnston would lead Post 17 with four hits and one RBI on the day. Jerod Cyrus would be the winning pitcher in game two going two-thirds of an inning. Lexan Thorson would pitch six and a third innings allowing ten hits, four runs, three strikeouts while walking two.
Watertown Post 17 (21-9) comes back home this week for a pair of contests. Tuesday Marshall, Minnesota comes to town for a 4 and 6 p.m. first pitch.
