Car, garbage truck involved in early morning crash in Watertown

WATERTOWN, S.D.–Only minor injuries resulted from a crash between a car and garbage truck in Watertown early this (Wednesday) morning.
It happened at 3:45 in the 10-block of First Avenue Northeast.
Police Corporal Austin Nelson says a car was westbound on First Avenue when it collided with a garbage truck that was pulling out of a private driveway.
The garbage truck was driven by 63 year-old David Case of Watertown. He was cited for Failure to Stop. The garbage truck had a second worker on the back of the truck that was not injured.
The car was driven by 22 year-old Daniel Scholtes of Watertown. He was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and Driving Without a Valid License.
A passenger in his car sustained minor injuries.
Scholtes was released from jail on a personal recognizance bond.
