WATERTOWN, S.D.–Earlier this month, artist renderings of what Watertown’s new two-sheet ice arena will look like were released to the public.

Now, a five member group called the, “Build It Now Committee” is pounding the pavement looking to raise $5 million toward the project.

The city has pledged a cap of $20 million toward the arena; money that will come from sales tax revenue bonds.

Jodi Driscoll is chairing the “Build It Now Committee.” She tells KWAT News that ice time availability for hockey players and figure skaters has become a real problem in Watertown, making this project a “need,” and not a “want”……

Driscoll says the committee’s fundraising efforts are expected to go thru the end of May. Groundbreaking on the project just off Willow Creek Drive is expected this spring or summer.

The five members of the commitee are Driscoll (President), Jenny Kasuske (Vice President), Marcy Kohl (Treasurer), Robyn Adler (Secretary) and Todd Randall.
