PIERRE, S.D.–A Browns Valley man will serve 16 years in federal prison for Abusive Sexual Contact.

Forty three year-old Ernest Barse Junior was indicted for aggravated sexual abuse of a child and abusive sexual contact by a Federal Grand Jury in August 2020.

He pleaded guilty in September 2021.

South Dakota U.S. Attorney Alison Ramsdell says Barse knowingly engaged or attempted to engage in sexual contact with two children under the age of 12 between between the dates of July 2007 and July 2008 with one victim, and between April 2016 and April 2019 with the second victim.

Barse was sentenced Monday, and was immediately returned to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service to serve his sentence.
