Brown County authorities investigating drowning death of two year-old girl

ABERDEEN, S.D.–The Brown County Sheriff’s office is investigating the drowning death of a two-year-old girl.

According to authorities, the child died while swimming by the Ordway Dam, about six miles north of Aberdeen.

The sheriff’s office believes the girl was playing in the water while the mother and her boyfriend were fishing. She disappeared and was found unresponsive by first responders.

According to Brown County Chief Deputy Dave Lunzman it isn’t exactly clear what happened and the incident remains under investigation. The name of the child has not yet been released.
